Fall Backyard Book Fair

The Community Literacy Foundation will hold a Backyard Book Fair in the backyard of Neighborhood Reads Bookstore.

Paperback copies of juvenile fiction, YA, and adult books will be available for a $1 donation. Hardback books for all ages will be available for a suggested $5 donation.

All proceeds will benefit the Community Literacy Foundation’s quest to promote reading in the community.

Young readers - and those just young at heart - are invited to this FREE family event celebrating reading!

  • LET’S READ! Educators, librarians, student leaders and athletes, police officers, firefighters and many more community friends will share incredible stories throughout the evening.

  • LET’S CREATE! School parent organizations will host tables with lots of fun book crafts.

  • LET’S WIN BOOKS! Kids have the change to win baskets of new books!


The Community Literacy Foundation, in partnership with the School District of Washington, Washington Public Library, Friends of the Library and the Washington Optimist Club, will host Family Reading Night on Friday, March 1, at Washington Middle School.

Lace-up your sneakers and join us for the Run to Read on Oct. 14, 2023. Every participant gets a BOOK! Prizes are BOOKS! This event is in partnership with Neighborhood Reads.

2023 Run to Read Registration

Our online registration is now closed. Please join us this Saturday at the Washington Public Library for the 5k Run, 5k Walk or 1-Mile Story Stroll. Onsite registration begins at 7 a.m.
Proceeds benefit the Community Literacy Foundation.
